A cause for debate, and given the diverse pillars on which different individuals anchor their argument, it is truly a remarkable subject.
Christians will base their argument on the bible(as is the norm), and say vehemently that it is a sin and the LGBT community concludes that those who do not believe in their lifestyle, or at least show support, are mean and unorthodox.
Let’s keep religion aside
Putting the issue on a neutral ground of every individual’s ability to tell right from wrong(do we even know the difference?) coupled with the fact that a lot of people behave like they’re under a sworn oath of bigotry.
Marriage as I’ve always known is the union between a man and a woman and the society won’t have it any other way… But you know what they say:
Time changes everything
Apparently one of the changes that has accompanied our own change of time is a man can feel sexually attracted to another man and a woman to another woman, a change which not only redefines the meaning of marriage, but questions our ability to uphold long standing morals.
A change which stems from the kind of values an individual is brought up with.
But who I’m i to judge?
Bringing religion back into the equation, We shouldn’t be quick to point criticizing fingers at the LGBT community just because they sin differently than we do
I believe in freedom, I also believe people should not be forced to live with rules that push them to violate their religious and moral beliefs, the government should not compel people to go against their conscience
To me and millions like me, marriage is a religious service not a government form – Dr Benjamin Carson
I firmly believe the question of same sex marriage is a question of the definition of a legacy not wether a certain set of individuals are more superior to the other in terms of dignity. Every human has the right to pursue happiness and love in ways they see fit, and like a lot of other subjects, it will be difficult to establish common ground, but we all have to coexist, legal or not, gay marriage is an issue that everyone cannot agree on.
In principle, It all boils down to the willingness of one individual to respect the dignity of the other… Like we Christians say;
Let go and let GOD
