We’re the spoiled ones, who prefer to check our Social Media statistics rather than interact with the world around us, we’re the generation too young to have fought in a major war, and we’re guilty of beginning to forget the lessons learned by those who lived through one. We don’t know enough about life, yet we feel like we do, with the ever growing opinionated twitter population.
We aren’t eager to volunteer and change the world, we haven’t recognised the value in our education like most of our parents, and we refuse to cherish the idea that learning for learning’s sake is a good thing, instead we’re confidently narcissistic, over-sharing our every moment, pouring out every unedited thought to the world, desperate for the approval and endorsement of our peers throughout the internet.
We’re upbeat, preferring to believe that everything will turn out okay, in the face of economic instability, drastically reduced earning potential from the generation before us, and an entirely uncertain future. We have our heads in the clouds, either because reality is too impossible, because we’ve realised self-pity doesn’t help, or because we’re just too damn stupid to understand any of it.
We don’t want anyone else’s philosophy of life. We don’t want to know why intergenerational reciprocity might help us. Naaaa, we’re too busy being “trophy kids”
We’re the “snapchat generation“, who cling to the “I” nature of our own entitlement, unable to open our eyes to the possibility that alongside rights, go responsibilities.
We’re the ones loosing the battle against overwhelming shifts in areas like education and politics. We’re the generation who should be ahead, but instead we’re trying to catch up.
Most older folks are quick to dismiss us, can you blame them? I feel like we’re constantly expected to pass the “are you like your peers” test; but I refuse to agree that our generation can be so unfairly characterized.
On an individual basis, I’ve met people who are determined to make something of themselves, irrespective of personal circumstances, people who have mastered the art of multitasking, because let’s face it, the world is too dynamic to venture into just one field.
The positive side of our “I” nature is we hope you take us as individuals, people in our own right, people you should assess first, before you dismiss.
In a world that is changing practically everyday, we’re required more and more to prove ourselves, prove that we all just can’t be rolled up in one blanket as “today’s generation”
The rest of the world thinks we are much different from previous generations, that we’re the generation that counts instagram likes instead of degrees,
It’s our job to combat this damning mindset.
Words of a true son of the soil that understands the need of being versatile.
Keep it up son…

I’m from another generation and I see a lot of energy for change happening more than ever in your generation. You are using the lastest technology to spread the truth because you aren’t gonna get for the news etc. I admire your generation. I know that the 40 and over club which I am in are mostly short sided jerks. I don’t even like my generation. Things are changing the election results opened more people of all ages to the feelings of hopelessness including older generations who are not in tune with the plight of the youngs struggles. Getting a good dose of hopelessness I think is gonna help wake some of the older folks up to what it’s like and you are leading the way. Keep talking don’t let them define you.
Thanks
